My truck sat until about 4:35. At about 4:45 they told me they couldn't do an alignment because a the idler and pitman arm are worn out. I asked them to show me the parts and I understand that there is a little too much slop to align the truck properly.
Update: After reviewing my quote I do see that it was recommended to replace the idler arm bracket, but this was not explained at the shop. I will be calling the number in the reply below and report back.
The staff here are really helpful, respectful and honest towards customers. That is what I look for in reputable company. Gives their opinion on the best product for what you're looking to spend and does not push you to make a choice. Their knowledge on vehicles makes it easier to fill your needs on basic maintenance. I will be returning with my other car to get work done.
I guess they didn't really do anything ethically wrong, but I'm pretty frustrated about my overall experience. I had a 4 p.m. appointment for an alignment and oil change. I was told that I could only use one of the coupons I had so I told them to just take care of the alignment.
I called a mechanic I trust back home and he told me Moog (very high quality) parts are available for about $50 each and this repair should take less than 2 hours with proper tools and equipment. He also said the should have checked or recommended considering replacing the idler arm bracket as it is probably worn and would be removed and reinstalled in the process of replacing the idler arm.
I had a great experience these past couple days at Tire pros! The staff is knowledgeable, kind and patient. They recommended specific parts that were best for my vehicle and gave me plenty of options, which was really great. I was updated and informed on every step of repairs. The work they did was excellent and I'm very happy with the results. They had my truck up and running, fully repaired in a great amount of time considering how much business they get and how many vehicles they were working on, I'm very impressed. I was told that I still had to pay an inspection fee of $30 - understandable, but a little high. They told me I could get the fee credited back if I had them do the repair, so I asked for a quote. It came back as about $180 in parts and $500 in labor. I paid my inspection fee and left.
The workers are all very nice and knowledgeable the only problems that I came across were the fact that even after you buy new tires from them you still get charged to put them on. I believe it was 80 dollars to put on 4 tires. I could have went to almost any other place and got then put on for free since I bought been there. (Which is what I will do next time). The other issue I had was I waited around for over 2 1/2 hours for 4 tires to be put on with a 2 year old child trying to keep her entertained. Tires should not take that long. They compensated me with a free oil change which I will never use since I use synthetic oil and the dealership gives me free oil changes as well but I guess it's the thought that counts.. all in all if you have extra money to spend that you shouldn't have to this place is awesome. If you want a place that has cheaper tires, and doesn't charge you an installation fee go literally anywhere else.
Got my Continental extreme contacts from these guys, WHEW! no worries for me this Winter! They have been outstanding in every category and wear nicely and are really quiet. Definitely will be stopping back for another set! And the technicians are top notch and knowledgeable on all makes and models! They are the only guys I would trust with my bmw. Make the right choice visit the PROS before winter hits to get some good deals on tires and good quality service!
Although nothing they did was ethnically wrong I wish they would've gotten to my vehicle sooner and charged less for the inspection since it didn't take long and nothing was fixed. I would also have them repair it to get the fee back, but I known I can save more than $30 taking it to a different shop in the area.
